Volunteering with VOS

We are able to do what we do thanks to our superb team of volunteers. Would you like to join us?

We’re looking for:

  • Leading Wellbeing Activities (be our lead contact at an activity …encourage, support, take photos and feedback, be a positive influence. For anything from Bee Keeping tours to fishing, from Book Binding to Archery… and more)
  • Events support over the summer (attending events, putting up gazebos, being an ambassador for VOS at stalls, engaging with the community)
  • Distributing flyers (going out into the community and offering our flyers to Doctor Surgeries, supermarkets, local shops etc)
  • Running Outreach support in the local community
  • Leading or supporting our Social Groups in the community
  • Telephone Befrienders
  • Anyone on the Isle of Wight, to help support our activities and local social groups
  • Ambassadors for our charity
  • There are probably more opportunities, so get in touch if you have any ideas or would like to know more!

In return, we’ll:

  • Welcome you to our VOS Family and involve you in an exciting, forward-looking charity.
  • Provide you with relevant training
  • Confirm that your feedback and ideas will be welcomed.
  • Run events to support our VOS Vols team: an AGM in April and a Training opportunity in September. plus (if funding allows) a meal together in December.

Our VOS Volunteer Handbook is available here to view. For more info, reach out to us at wellbeing@vosuk.org.

VOS saved my life. Now I feel I can give back to other veterans by volunteering with VOS.

Being a volunteer is so rewarding and brings great joy to be able ‘to give something back’ to those who helped me. Also, volunteering at VOS is positive and a joy, especially to be surrounded by like minded volunteers who make the VOS Team.
