VOS is looking for a Welfare Support Worker to help VOS support LGBT+ veterans following the publication of Lord Etherton’s report and the recent government apology to veterans affected by the historical ban. The Welfare Support Worker will be the initial point of contact for LGBT+ veterans seeking assistance with issues related to the report and will raise awareness of the challenges faced by veterans affected by the ban internally at VOS, to VPPP project partners, delivery partners and external agencies as appropriate.
You will be someone with excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills, a strong team player, with the ability to work to targets and deadlines with minimal supervision. You will have a very strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and will be comfortable in dealing with sensitive issues and protecting personal, confidential data in IT systems. Most of all, you will be someone who is empathetic and caring, and is strongly motivated to making a difference to the lives of LGBT+ veterans.
