Thanks to the ‘AmazonSmile’ initiative, shoppers can now have Amazon donate to their preferred causes every time they make a purchase. The donations are no extra charge for you, the shopper- the Amazon company covers the cost.
With the season of giving coming up fast, many of us are shopping online to buy presents for our loved ones. You can let them know their gift made a difference when you have ‘AmazonSmile’ enabled- read on to learn how!
What is AmazonSmile?
AmazonSmile offers the exact same low prices and wide selection of products as the traditional Amazon shopping experience, just with an automated feature that lets you give as you go.
It automatically applies a donation to your Amazon purchases (0.5% of the price on all eligible purchases) and sends it along to the charity of your choice. Those small donations add up! Since the initiative began, Amazon has donated £16.9 million to verified charities across the UK. Now Veterans Outreach Support is among the charities they feature.
How Do I Use It?
You can use AmazonSmile the same way you use Amazon- on your computer by website or on your phone by app. Go to smile.amazon.co.uk online, or find the AmazonSmile app in your app store.
To log in, you can use the same account details that you already use on the standard Amazon site and your shopping cart, Wish List, and other account settings will show up as usual. (If you don’t have an Amazon account but would like to make one, you can follow the steps after clicking ‘Sign Up.’)
The first time you open AmazonSmile, you will be prompted to select the charitable organisation that will receive donations from your future purchases. To find VOS, please type in Veterans Outreach Support and click to select.
Then you just shop as normal, and Amazon will give a portion of your purchases directly to the meaningful work we do here for veterans in Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight, Gosport, Fareham, and the Solent area.
