Veterans Outreach Support’ (VOS) is delighted to announce a generous donation of £5,000 from National Grid as IFA2 marks five years since it became operational.
Building and operating an interconnector takes the dedication of hundreds of people and thousands of hours of work. At IFA2, military veterans have been an important part of that effort, bringing valuable skills and experience to the project team.
National Grid are proud to employ former Armed Forces personnel and is a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, which supports the welfare, employment and education of the armed forces community and their families.
At IFA2, six members of staff are veterans – five from the Royal Navy and one from the British Army – with a combined 100 years of military experience. This donation reflects their continued commitment to supporting communities connected to their interconnector operations and the vital work of Veterans Outreach Support.
This funding will support VOS’ to support UK Armed Forces and qualifying Merchant Navy veterans, their families and carers welfare, wellbeing and mental health support in Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham, Isle of Wight and across the Solent region. We offer a Drop-In model of support, advice and guidance on welfare needs, a range of peer-supported wellbeing activities and social groups and access to mental health support – including psychology, psychiatry, and therapy services.
