VOS Awarded £30,000 Grant from Veterans Foundation to Support Clinical Services

We are thrilled to announce that Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) has been awarded a generous grant of £30,000 from the Veterans’ Foundation, received on 29 September.

This vital funding marks the second consecutive year of support and will enable us to continue delivering essential clinical services to our VOS members.

The grant will directly support the provision of psychological and counselling services, ensuring that veterans, their families, and carers have access to the mental health care they need.

Ian Millen, CEO of VOS, said:

“We are incredibly grateful to the Veterans’ Foundation for their continued support. This funding allows us to maintain and strengthen our clinical services, helping those in our community who are struggling with mental health challenges. It will contribute towards the costs of a Clinical Psychologist and a Mental Health Counsellor, ensuring direct and timely support for our service users.”

Sharon Wemyss, Head of Care at VOS, added:

“Every day, we see the positive impact this funding has on our members. Without it, many would be facing their challenges alone. This support truly transforms lives and improves the wellbeing of those who have served.”

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Veterans’ Foundation for their ongoing commitment to the veteran community.

The Veterans’ Foundation Hub was founded in 2016 and exists to connect those that provide frontline charitable support with individuals and businesses willing, and able, to help fund this life-changing work. The VF is positioned at the centre of this Hub and assists both charities and donors all over the UK. They are well-placed to provide this central role by using the expertise that we have built up through service in the military, in some cases, as well as considerable engagement with charities and charitable organisations.

They are focussed on engaging the military community and distributing funding to where it is most needed, to projects that have the biggest impact on lives in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Since its inception in 2016, Veterans’ Foundation have given over £30 million to more than 1,100 projects, run by over 543 charities and organisations – with VOS being one of these charities!

Veterans Outreach Support is a registered charity, which means we need a certain amount of funding to be able to deliver support to veterans and their partners in a variety of ways, including in the form of cognitive, behavioural and emotional well-being therapies or treatments.

If you’re a veteran from the UK Armed Forces or the Merchant Navy (from any time of service) or a partner to one, VOS would love for you to join our community. We are here to offer our support: call us on 02392 731 767, visit an upcoming drop-in, or email wellbeing@vosuk.org
