World Mental Health Day 2022 – VOS

Today, 10th October, is World Mental Health Day. This year, the theme is ‘Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority’, as set by the World Federation for Mental Health, with the aim of providing an opportunity for everyone to redefine how we approach mental health and to work towards improving it across the world.

**The thing is, you know — we all know — that Mental Health is not just about one day! It’s about every day. But let’s take a moment on this date to specifically check in with our own mental health.**

How VOS can help your mental health

  • At VOS we are dedicated to providing mental health support to veterans and serving members of the UK Armed Forces and Merchant Navy, as well as their spouses and partners, by offering individuals and family members cognitive, behavioural and emotional wellbeing therapies or treatments.
  • With our wellbeing activities, events and social groups, VOS promotes camaraderie, community and fun – all key elements of looking after your mental health.
  • We also acknowledge that welfare plays an important role in people’s mental health, so we provide access to various kinds of welfare support depending on an individual’s situation.

It’s so easy to feel alone when you’re struggling, or to not want to be a “burden” to anyone, but it’s okay not to be okay, and in fact many of us often aren’t okay.

Today, check out these five ways to wellbeing that help us prioritise our mental health — and check in with your family, friends, colleagues and anyone else in your life.

Stay well, look after yourself and reach out if you need support. VOS is here for you.

If you’re a veteran from the UK Armed Forces or the Merchant Navy (from any time of service) or a partner to one, VOS would love for you to join our community. We are here to offer our support: call us on 02392 731 767, visit an upcoming drop-in, or email admin@vosuk.org.

VOS is immensely grateful to the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, as without their support and funding we would not be able to provide activities such as this one.
