Two VOS Volunteers Visit London for the Lying-in-State of Queen Elizabeth II

Last week, two of our VOS Volunteers, Richard and Sue, travelled up to London for the Lying-in-State of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II in order to thank her and say goodbye. From when they first heard the sad announcement of the passing of the Queen, they were determined to pay their respects in some way. Although their visit was rapidly planned and organised, they were able to accomplish everything that they had wanted to do.

If you wish to read more about our volunteers’ visit to Westminster Hall, here is the full report of their ‘Op Loyal’ trip.

Plus, watch this video from BFBS Radio’s Facebook page which features Richard at the start!

While the Queen’s state funeral has now passed and the period of National Mourning has ended, it is likely that many people, particularly veterans and other members of the Armed Forces family, will still be dealing with various levels of grief. If you are struggling, please do reach out and get in touch with us. Community and camaraderie are very important at this time, and we invite you to come along to our wellbeing social activities to find that.

If you’re a veteran from the UK Armed Forces or the Merchant Navy (from any time of service) or a partner to one, VOS would love for you to join our community. We are here to offer our support: call us on 02392 731 767, visit an upcoming drop-in, or email admin@vosuk.org.
