Veterans Outreach Support is pleased to announce that The Seafarers’ Charity has awarded us a grant of £15,000. We are delighted and grateful for their support.
The Seafarers’ Charity was founded in 1917 when it was launched as the King George’s Fund for Sailors (KGFS). It was created specifically to improve the lives of active and retired seafarers and their families. More than a century later, The Seafarer’s Charity still works to put life-changing funding where it matters, directly to maritime charities where they can help support the welfare and practical needs of seafarers and their families at home, in port and at sea.
The impact of the valuable work they do is hugely significant, and we are so proud to be one of the organisations they support. Their £15,000 grant will help us continue the important work we do for mental health, welfare and wellbeing services for local Royal Navy/Merchant Navy veterans and their partners/spouses and carers. Thank you, The Seafarer’s Charity!
Donations like this one enable us to continue to provide our in-house clinical team of mental health practitioners, who are experts in dealing with the problems encountered by veterans and their families (like trauma-focused PTSD, addiction and dependency). We can also continue to provide direct access to triage, assessment, and evidence-based therapies and help provide a safe space to bring like-minded veterans and partners together, offer support by phone, and broader services, including welfare support, wellbeing activities and social meet-ups.
Every penny counts and we are so grateful for this grant from The Seafarers’ Charity. A significant amount of our service users, volunteers, and staff members are veterans from the Royal Navy and Merchant Navy, making this grant very meaningful indeed.
