Veterans Outreach Support is delighted to announce that Knights’ Portsmouth/Southampton has named us as their Charity of the Year!
If you’re unaware of Knights, they are a friendly and down-to-earth business that provides legal and professional services to over 10,000 business clients from 23 locations across the UK, including offices in Portsmouth and Southampton.
The staff at Knights are encouraged to use four working hours a month to support some great causes in their local community. Last year they spent over 1,200 hours supporting more than 150 fantastic causes in the local community. VOS is a beneficiary of this focused, community support, as Knights provides two experienced solicitors at Portsmouth monthly Drop-Ins, where they provide pro bono legal advice on a myriad of areas from family and property law to inheritance, wills and many other matters to our service users.
Being nominated as Knights’ ‘Charity of the Year 2023’ means that VOS will also be the recipient of financial support which, as a charity, we will put to very good use in support of our veterans and family members.

Emma Jones, an Associate from Knights, delivered the news: “I am DELIGHTED to confirm that the Knights Portsmouth/Southampton office have voted for Veterans Outreach Support to be the charity of the year. We will shortly be letting our colleagues know and encouraging ideas about how to get involved with fundraising efforts.”
She added that Knights employees will keep a VOS money bucket in their office and will likely “do bake sales, book swaps, etc as well as bigger events” as the year goes on. The first event is a charity bottle bingo in their Portsmouth office over lunch on Thursday 15 June! They’ve also set up this JustGiving page for their fundraising efforts.
Ian Millen, the VOS Chief Executive said: “We are very grateful for the kindness of the Knights team in naming VOS as their charity of the year, and very proud to be the recipient of this support. This is a particular bonus, as we already benefit hugely from the great support that the company gives to our beneficiaries in the veteran community at our regular Drop-Ins.”
