On 9th November, we had a brilliant time creating Christmas cards in a lino printing workshop with SouthSeaEyes. Here we share an insight into the session and plenty of photos!
Nusye from SouthSeaEyes always brings all the equipment required to make some beautiful prints, and gives a clear demonstration. She provides a selection of SouthSeaEyes’ commercially-viable, pre-prepared hand-carved blocks, which means there are plenty of designs for people to choose from for their printing.
This time, the options chosen includedĀ an A6 battleship grey lino block, using layering printing techniques to create multiple cards of stags, hinds and penguins, and a ‘Merry Christmas’ bauble. One person used a block that has been prepared on the day for the session, and made several printed cards for their grandchild.
Two people also decided to carve their own blocks! One of them is actually a woodcarver, so has innate knowledge of the Pfeil tools and was able to create and design specifically-detailed cards. The other carved an entire holly wreath on an A6 lino block, and printed multiple cards over the course of the session.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed expressing their creativity and was pleased with their end result prints on paper and cards.
ā We’d like to say a huge thank you to Nusye from SouthSeaEyes, not only for this Christmas-themed lino printing session, but for all the other incredible workshops she has led for our veterans.
